A carefully chosen range of antique candelabra and candlesticks, drawn from English, French and Continental traditions of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Pairs, garnitures and table-top sets are offered where available, with original candle nozzles and drip-pans preserved wherever possible.
Candelabra represent some of the most sculptural objects in the decorative arts, intended both as functional light sources and as accomplished pieces in their own right. Our collection includes Sheffield-plate and silver-plated examples, French gilt-bronze and ormolu candelabra in the Louis XVI, Empire and Restauration manner, Regency cut-glass and bronze pieces, and later nineteenth-century interpretations of earlier classical forms.
We give close attention to provenance, weight and proportion, and to the quality of the chasing, gilding and casting. Pairs and garnitures are valued particularly highly, both for their original intent and for their visual balance on a mantel, console or dining table.
Where appropriate, candelabra can be converted sympathetically for electric use, retaining the original arms, nozzles and pans. Conversion is offered as an option rather than a default — many clients prefer to keep their pieces as they were originally intended.
