Pair of 3-Arm Louis XVI-Style Ormolu Wall Lights, c. 1920

A French Louis XVI-style pair of 3-arm ormolu brass wall lights with richly chased brasswork throughout, dating from the beginning of the 20th century. Each wall light has a ribbon backplate suspending a midnight-blue enamelled elongated vase, surmounted by vine branches and bunches of grapes. The vine and grape motif carries throughout, with further grapes and flowers above arm height and a bow to the top. A grape finial hangs at the lower terminal.

Hand cleaned in the workshop; casting checked and reassembled. Original chasing preserved.
Electrification —Electrified with French candles; wired to current UK standards and PAT tested.
Condition
Restored and rewired. Richly chased brasswork retained throughout; enamelled vase intact on each backplate.
Our Opinion
A pair in the Louis XVI manner where the interest lies in the depth of the chasing and the survival of the enamelled vase. The classical mask and fawns are competently modelled and the composition reads as a considered piece rather than a repeated pattern.
