    24-Arm Maria Theresa Chandelier, c. 1950

    £3,000

A large 24-arm Maria Theresa chandelier of the mid-20th century, restored in our workshop. The arms are arranged over two tiers — eight on the upper level and sixteen on the lower — giving the piece its full spread. The frame is dressed from top to bottom with Czech glass pear drops, buttons and rosettes. A cut-glass bubble hangs within the frame at its centre, with a larger cut-glass bubble at the lower terminal. The 24 metal arms are glass-clad and the pans carry a thumbprint design.

    Our Opinion

A characteristic Bohemian Maria Theresa of the mid-20th century, the two-tier arrangement giving it the height and spread suited to a stairwell or entrance hall. The Czech glass is of the quality one expects of the type, and the piece has been prepared to hang.
