    About the Collection

    About the Chandelier Collection

Our chandelier collection brings together examples from the principal periods of European chandelier-making — from early Georgian and Regency cut-glass pieces to Victorian tent-and-tier designs, Maria Theresa and Bohemian crystal items, and gilt-bronze ormolu work of the French nineteenth century.

Each item is selected for the integrity of its frame, the quality of its cutting, and the consistency of its dressing. We pay particular attention to the survival of original arms, canopies and pans, and to the character of the antique glass — qualities that distinguish a genuine period piece from later reproductions.

Before they are offered for sale, chandeliers are inspected in our workshop, sympathetically cleaned, re-pinned where required, and rewired to current standards. The aim is always to preserve the original character of the piece while ensuring it is safe and ready for installation.
