    Work
Dismantling, packing and transport for storage

The owner of a property in Barnes was moving house and asked that her chandelier be taken down and delivered to her parents' home for safekeeping, where it would remain in storage until she and her family had settled into a new house of their own.

    The Piece

A multi-arm crystal chandelier of nineteenth-century manufacture, with cut glass drops arranged on a polished brass frame. The item had been in the family for several generations.

    Work Carried Out

    • Methodical dismantling of crystals, arms and central column
    • Cataloguing and labelling of every component
    • Packing in fitted crates with archival materials
    • Transport to the client's parents' home for safe storage
    • Provision for cleaning and reinstallation once a new property had been acquired

    Approach

The work was carried out over a single day. Each element was photographed and labelled before removal, ensuring the chandelier could be reassembled exactly as it had hung previously.

    Outcome

The chandelier was delivered safely to the client's parents' home, where it is now stored in full. It will be cleaned and reinstalled in due course, once the family have moved into their new property, with all original components preserved. Comparable removal and reinstatement work is documented in our Knightsbridge to North Kensington family relocation, the disassembly of a Venetian chandelier in Central London and the subsequent Dutch chandelier installation in South West London.
