These terms set out the basis on which G&P Cohn provides this website and the services described on it. They are written in plain English and are intended to be straightforward rather than legalistic. By using this website or making an enquiry, you agree to the points set out below.
Use of this website
This website is provided for general information about our work with antique chandeliers and period lighting. You are welcome to browse and refer to its content for personal, non-commercial purposes. Images, text and other material on the site remain our property and should not be reproduced elsewhere without our agreement.
Enquiries and quotations
Any quotation we provide is given in good faith based on the information and photographs supplied at the time of enquiry. The scope and cost of work may need to be revised once a item has been inspected in person, as the true condition of antique lighting is often only fully apparent on closer examination. Where this is the case, we will discuss any changes with you before proceeding.
Antique chandeliers and lighting offered for sale
The antique chandeliers, wall lights, lanterns and other items shown on this website are individual items, often one of a kind, and availability can change quickly. Pieces shown as available are offered subject to prior sale and continued availability. We are always happy to confirm current availability on request.
Descriptions and images
Descriptions, dates and attributions are given in good faith based on our experience and research. Photographs are taken to represent each item as faithfully as possible, but the natural character of antique materials—patina, glass, gilding and finish—can vary slightly from how they appear on a screen. Clients are warmly invited to view items in person before deciding to purchase.
Restoration, cleaning and electrification services
Our restoration, cleaning and electrification work is carried out with care and respect for the original item. Where electrification or rewiring is undertaken, work is completed carefully and in accordance with current safety standards. Once a item returns to your home, its long-term performance also depends on the surrounding electrical installation, which remains the responsibility of the property owner.
We will always discuss the proposed approach with you before any work begins and will not undertake intervention beyond what has been agreed.
Limitation of liability
We take great care in everything we do. To the extent permitted by law, our liability in connection with the use of this website, our enquiries process or our services is limited to the value of the work or item concerned. We do not accept liability for indirect or consequential losses or for matters outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under UK consumer law, or our liability for matters which cannot lawfully be excluded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be addressed in the first instance through direct, open conversation, which has always been the way we prefer to do business.
