    • Main baluster stem of frosted glass pieces formed as a fountain
    • Metalwork retaining original silver-plate finish
    • Tulip finial atop the canopy; canopy dressed with triangular drops alternating with four strings of octagonal buttons
    • Pear drops to the receiver and lower pan, terminating in a frosted bubble

    Restoration by G&P Cohn

Dismantled, hand cleaned and re-pinned; buttons and drops re-strung and drapes re-hung on new wire.

Electrification —Rewired to current UK standards; can be adapted for candle use on request.

    Condition

Restored and rewired. Metalwork retains its original silver-plate finish; frosted glass in good order throughout.

    Our Opinion

An unusual survival with its original silver-plate finish still present. The frosted glass and the fountain-form stem are characteristic of the mid-Victorian period, and the two-tier arrangement is nicely balanced. A piece of considered scale for a room of moderate ceiling height.
